I understand that some companies try to market towards diversity. That's fine. It's great to want to reach an urban demographic. But when you're McDonalds, sometimes you take that desire a bit too far. McDonalds has DISTINCT commercials that EXPLICITLY state who the audience is. My thing is, Black people don't have to be singing an R&B song, rapping, or playing BASKETBALL for me to realize that I want a double cheeseburger. I would probably get that without the racial coaxing, ya dig? it's a LITTLE offensive.
When McDonalds makes "urbanized" commercials, they assume that their target demographic--Black people--are naturally "urbanized" and would see a commercial catering to them as positive. NO. anytime i see my brothers and sisters coonin' on the Tele like a modern-day Sambo, I'm not happy. It actually pisses me off....a LOT. and if black people don't stop BEING in these kinds of things I don't know what I'm gonna do!!! sometimes, you have to educate yourself! if somebody wants you to run around and play like you're singing an R&B song about CHICKEN NUGGETS (YES YA'LL, THE BLACK PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT CHICKEN), then maybe you shouldnt do that. i mean, just for self-pride and all that jazz. Don't care about your culture? Feel free to be a fool then.
Look at the African art DANCING TO THE SMELL OF MCDONALDS.and the voice tones. omg. disaster.
then click to see this dude get his Tyrese on with the infamous "McNugget Lovin":
....ya'll....for real.. institutionalized racism is really killing the game right now. That "glass ceiling" concept is really doing us in. It's like the Beyonce of race relations. Today, promise me that we'll all try our best to do better.
God always,
Tiffers
